Breaking Boundaries: Mars aux Musées Unveils Its 23rd Edition, On Monday, March 4th, at 11 a.m., the Palais Lascaris in Rue Droite, Nice, will come alive with the anticipation of the grand reveal of the 23rd edition of Mars aux Musées. Themed "Against the Current," this year event promises to be a daring exploration of culture and creativity.
Esteemed guests including Robert Roux, Deputy Mayor for Culture; Patrick Mottard, Municipal Councillor overseeing Cinema and the Victorine project, as well as Deputy for Performing Arts and New Cultural Audiences Development; and Ali Douai, Vice President of Education and Pedagogical Innovation at Université Côte d'Azur, will be present to inaugurate the festivities.
A collaborative initiative between Université Côte d'Azur and the City of Nice, Mars aux Musées returns from March 9th to March 23rd, 2024. Curated by students from the Master program in Event Management, Mediation, and Cultural Engineering (EMIC) at Université Côte d'Azur, this edition promises to push the boundaries of conventional cultural experiences.
Five of Nice most iconic museums will be transformed into immersive showcases, each exploring a unique thematic concept. From aesthetic clashes at the Jules Chéret Fine Arts Museum to carefree expressions at the Anatole Jakovsky International Museum of Naïve Art, from scientific revelations at the Museum of Natural History to urban spectacles at the Masséna Museum, and from futuristic visions at the Archaeological Museum of Nice-Cimiez, visitors will embark on a journey of discovery and innovation.
The lineup, aptly titled "Against the Current," will feature captivating performances by Accorps Crew, the soul-stirring melodies of singer Helia, side-splitting comedy from the Bobar Comedy Club, the mesmerizing artwork of Nigina, the dynamic energy of La Sauce, the electrifying beats of K-pop sensation Risin', and the avant-garde fusion of Goku Kepler and Global Industrial Culture.
In addition to the main festival, Mars aux Musées will offer "mars'terclasses" throughout March, providing students with unique opportunities for growth and learning. For the first time, these classes will extend beyond traditional museum settings to include venues such as the Victorine Studios and the Charles Nègre Museum of Photography.
In 2023, Mars aux Musées welcomed over 2,300 visitors who immersed themselves in the works of 70 artists across five museums.
