News Retail Real Estate : Battersea Power Station Welcomes Over a Quarter Million Visitors on Opening Weekend
In a triumphant reopening, Battersea Power Station saw an impressive turnout of over a quarter of a million visitors during its first weekend, marking a significant milestone for the revitalized South London destination.
Nearly four decades after the iconic landmark's lights were dimmed, and following an extensive eight-year restoration project, eager visitors were treated to a taste of the station's new offerings, including shops, bars, restaurants, and leisure venues.
Simon Murphy, CEO of Battersea Power Station Development Company, expressed his delight, stating that the public response had "exceeded" expectations. "Over 250,000 people, from the local community, across London, and even beyond, flocked to witness the restored Power Station in its earliest moments, highlighting the deep connection people have with this iconic symbol."
During the opening weekend, Inception unveiled its new bar concept, Control Room B, and successfully served over 7,000 cocktails from Friday to Sunday.
Paris Baguette delighted visitors with 1,221 servings of cake, while Clean Kitchen saw smoothies emerge as the top-selling item. Where The Pancakes Are flipped more than 2,500 pancakes, and Poke House dished out 3,500 poke bowls, catering to diverse tastes.
Battersea Bookshop, a new addition to the neighborhood from specialist bookseller Stanfords, reported the sale of 1,383 books during its opening weekend. Furthermore, the Curated Makers pop-up, which hosted over 40 local independent small businesses offering homeware, candles, clothing, artwork, and more, enjoyed record-breaking sales on its opening day.
Excitingly, additional food and beverage brands are poised to join Battersea Power Station, including the upcoming 24,000 sq. ft Arcade Food Hall by JKS Restaurants, scheduled to open in 2023.
Battersea Power Station now boasts a lineup of British and international brands, including The Body Shop, Mulberry, Rituals, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, Aesop, Space NK, Hugo Boss, Jo Malone London, Uniqlo, and Mango, among others.
