In Nice, Palais de la Méditerranée Celebrates Its Renaissance and Reimagines Riviera Hospitality

On 1 October 2026, Hôtel Palais de la Méditerranée celebrated its renaissance with a Grand Opening evening on the Promenade des Anglais. Following an extensive renovation and the introduction of a renewed gastronomic offering, this iconic Nice landmark is opening a new chapter in its history, combining Art Deco heritage, contemporary elegance and the Riviera lifestyle.

On Nice’s legendary Promenade des Anglais, certain addresses are inseparable from the city’s identity. With its iconic Art Deco façade, Hôtel Palais de la Méditerranée is one of the landmarks that has embodied the prestige and history of the French Riviera for nearly a century.

On Thursday, 1 October 2026, the property celebrated its renaissance with a Grand Opening evening bringing together guests, partners, local personalities and journalists. The event marked the culmination of an extensive transformation project and the beginning of a new era for this five-star hotel.

A Historic Landmark Reimagined

Designed by architects Charles and Marcel Dalmas, the Palais de la Méditerranée opened in 1929 and remains a remarkable testament to the golden age of the Riviera. Its Art Deco architecture, deeply rooted in Nice’s identity, provides the guiding thread for its renewed vision.

Following seven months of renovation work and a reported investment of €50 million, the hotel reopened its doors in June 2026. The project reimagined its interiors while preserving the historic spirit of the property.

Its 145 rooms and 28 suites have been renovated, while the public spaces have been redesigned through a contemporary approach combining elegant materials, refined lines and Mediterranean inspiration.

The hotel is now part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, a collection dedicated to distinctive properties with a strong sense of character and history.

Zouzou Riviera: A New Gastronomic Destination

One of the most notable developments is the hotel’s renewed culinary offering with Zouzou Riviera, a restaurant designed to revive the festive and artistic atmosphere of the French Riviera’s golden years.

Located on the hotel’s third floor, the restaurant brings together dining, a bar and a terrace overlooking the Baie des Anges. Its atmosphere draws inspiration from the Roaring Twenties and Riviera elegance, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.

At the helm of the kitchen, Chef Sébastien Roux develops a Mediterranean-inspired, bistronomic cuisine centred on local and regional produce. Classic dishes are revisited with a modern touch, including lobster mimosa eggs and red mullet served with fish soup emulsion and gnocchi.

Pastry Chef Alexis Hernandez completes the experience with a creative take on classic desserts, including Zouzou, the restaurant’s signature creation.

Designed as a vibrant destination for both hotel guests and local residents, the restaurant aims to extend the hotel experience beyond accommodation, welcoming guests for lunch, dinner and Riviera evenings.

A Venue for Business and Events in the Heart of Nice

Palais de la Méditerranée also maintains its strong position in the events and business hospitality sector.

With more than 1,700 square metres of event space, the hotel is equipped to host conferences, seminars, private receptions and corporate gatherings.

Its facilities also include an outdoor swimming pool overlooking the Mediterranean, a heated indoor pool, and wellness and fitness facilities.

This renewed momentum is expected to strengthen the hotel’s appeal to international travellers while reconnecting it with the region’s business, cultural and tourism communities.

A New Chapter for Luxury Hospitality on the French Riviera

More than a conventional hotel opening, the celebration on 1 October marked the official relaunch of a historic Nice institution.

Already reopened following its renovation in June, Palais de la Méditerranée is now showcasing a transformation that extends beyond the modernisation of its facilities.

Through its renewed identity, culinary offering and event ambitions, the property seeks to bring together heritage, hospitality and Mediterranean art de vivre.

On the Promenade des Anglais, this renaissance reflects the ability of the French Riviera’s historic luxury addresses to reinvent themselves while remaining true to their heritage.
