WAICF 2026: Inauguration of the “Alpes-Maritimes, Land of AI” Pavilion

Cannes, February 12–13, 2026 – During the 5th edition of the World AI Cannes Festival (WAICF), the Alpes-Maritimes region highlighted its central role in Europe’s artificial intelligence ecosystem with the inauguration of the “Alpes-Maritimes, Land of AI” Pavilion. The two-day event at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes brought together AI experts, startups, investors, and public stakeholders to explore the latest developments in applied, ethical, and inclusive AI.

A Pavilion Showcasing Innovation and Collaboration

The pavilion, led by La Maison de l’IA, presented 28 innovative startups alongside concrete demonstrations of AI applications across industries. Visitors could experience firsthand how artificial intelligence is being used to enhance business operations, public services, and social impact initiatives. The pavilion also served as a meeting point for networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within the region’s AI ecosystem.

Alpes-Maritimes: A Growing AI Powerhouse

With nearly 200 AI actors, 1,700 jobs, and a cumulative €410 million in revenue, the Alpes-Maritimes region is increasingly recognized as a major European AI hub. The initiative highlights the region’s ability to combine economic performance, innovation, and ethical AI practices while contributing to digital sovereignty and public sector modernization.

“Here in Alpes-Maritimes, AI is not only developed—it is shared,” said a spokesperson from La Maison de l’IA. “Our goal is to foster a collaborative environment where startups, researchers, and public institutions work together to build ethical and impactful AI solutions.”

Celebrating Innovation: DataGreen Awarded Best Startup

Among the 28 startups, DataGreen stood out and was awarded the Best Startup Prize, recognizing its innovative solutions and contribution to sustainable and responsible AI development. This award highlights the region’s capacity to nurture high-potential startups and position itself as a hub for next-generation AI technologies.

A Vision for Inclusive and Ethical AI

The pavilion emphasized AI that is applied, inclusive, and ethical, aligning with broader European priorities around transparency, accountability, and human-centric innovation. By bringing together startups, corporates, and public authorities, Alpes-Maritimes is demonstrating a model where AI supports employment, economic growth, and social progress.
