Riyadh has become home to Saudi Arabia’s first autonomous food delivery program, launched in the ROSHN Front Business Area. The service is a partnership between the ROSHN Group and the delivery app Jahez, operating under the oversight of the Transport General Authority.
The pilot deploys five state-of-the-art delivery robots equipped with GPS, more than 20 sensors, high-resolution cameras, and temperature-controlled compartments. These features ensure meals are delivered on time and in perfect condition, even during Riyadh’s scorching summers.
This project is not just about convenience—it also addresses environmental challenges. By minimizing the number of conventional delivery vehicles on the roads, the robots contribute to lower emissions, reduced traffic congestion, and improved air quality. The program reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to sustainable urban planning and smart city initiatives.
Authorities plan to expand the service to malls and residential neighborhoods, making autonomous delivery accessible to more residents. The program is part of a broader strategy to integrate robotics and artificial intelligence into everyday urban life, creating a seamless and efficient city ecosystem.
Experts say the initiative demonstrates the potential of autonomous technologies to revolutionize service delivery. It also aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which emphasizes innovation, technology adoption, and environmental responsibility.
By leveraging robotics, Riyadh is taking a bold step toward a sustainable, high-tech urban future. Autonomous delivery promises to enhance city living, reduce environmental impact, and showcase the Kingdom as a pioneer in smart city solutions.
The success of this pilot could inspire similar initiatives across Saudi Arabia, positioning the country as a global leader in innovative, tech-driven urban services.
