UAE Schools Announce 135 Days Off for 2025–26 Academic Year

The UAE’s Ministry of Education has unveiled the school calendar for 2025–26, granting students 135 days away from the classroom, making it one of the most generous schedules in the Gulf region. Out of 313 total days, 178 will be dedicated to teaching, while 135 days are set aside for weekends, public holidays, and breaks.

The calendar includes 68 weekends, four public holidays, and multiple midterm breaks spread across the year. First-semester students will have a seven-day midterm break, second-semester students five days, and third-semester students seven days. Additionally, a 30-day winter holiday and 14-day spring break give students extended time to rest, travel, or engage in cultural activities.

Significantly, the schedule is designed to coincide with major holidays. Eid Al Fitr aligns with spring break, Eid Al Adha with the third-semester midterm, and New Year’s Day with winter holiday. This alignment allows families to celebrate important events without interfering with school obligations.

Education authorities highlighted the importance of student wellbeing alongside academic rigor. Scheduled breaks help prevent fatigue and support better learning outcomes. With holidays interspersed throughout the year, students are able to maintain focus during instructional periods.

By offering both structured learning and generous breaks, the UAE continues to set a regional standard for education, emphasizing holistic student development, cultural awareness, and family engagement.
