Rising Egyptian actor Youssef Omar continues his impressive climb in the entertainment world by joining the international cast of SHASHOU, an upcoming Sino-British thriller directed by Bizhan Tong. He will star alongside American actress Debby Ryan, best known for her roles on Disney Channel and the Netflix series Insatiable. Additional international cast members are expected to be announced soon.
Set in the shadowy world of former special forces operatives, SHASHOU follows the story of three outcasts—Kelly Frost, Rachel Chan, and Inferno—who band together to stop a billionaire’s plot to destabilize Hong Kong. In a world filled with secrets and betrayals, trust is their only hope for survival, while the mysterious “Shashou” watch from the shadows.
The film is both directed and produced by Bizhan Tong, founder and CEO of Phoenix Waters Productions, a British company focused on creating high-concept projects with global appeal. He is joined by producers Charlie Wong (Warriors of Future), Michael Chuah (Firefly), Yu-Fai Suen (The Eye), and Raimund Berens (Siege on Liperti Street).
Youssef Omar first rose to fame in 2018 with his breakout role in the drama series Rahim. He quickly established himself as one of Egypt’s most promising young actors, gaining popularity through TV hits such as Setat Beit Al-Maadi, where his performance as Timo El-Badry earned widespread acclaim. His success on television has translated seamlessly to the big screen, with roles in box office hits like Awlad Hareem Kareem and El Hareefa. His appearance in Meen Yesadaq, which premiered at the 45th Cairo International Film Festival, further cemented his rising star status in the Arab film scene.
With SHASHOU, Youssef Omar takes a bold new step into the international spotlight.
